The representation of female leaders at the top of companies is around 20% in the best countries and companies. It is still a long way from an equal split.
Despite the fact that great leadership qualities of inclusion, cooperation and care, are often strong in female leaders, it seems that the unconscious bias, still makes leaders promote people with stronger male leadership qualities, like decisiveness, power and authority for leaders. Even women themselves are affected by the stereotyping. Women often believe they are not yet ready to take the helmet, despite their qualifications and track-record.
The answer is to help women, stay their upward course in business, develop a strong sense of their value and increase their assertiveness. The answer equally is to help men understand and apply female leadership traits, alongside of male leadership qualities. AND the answer is to raise the awareness of the stereotyping and how it can be tackled.
